Cade Peterson 3rd and Kayden Gonzales 2nd K-2 60Ibs.

Tehachapi Valley Wrestlers competed locally at Bakersfield High School on Jan. 22. Kayden Gonzales, K-2 60Ibs, Julian Cardenas, 3-5 grade 91Ibs and Jairdan Medina, middle school 76Ibs were runners-up at the Jr. Drillers Rumble for the Rig. Cade Peterson placed third at K-2 60Ibs, Jacob Cardenas K-2 56Ibs and Levi Hart 3-5 grade 79Ibs received fourth. Owen Schneider K-2 44Ibs and John Aguirre K-2 60Ibs finished in fifth place. "This ended up being a tough event with many kids having large brackets" said Coach Gabe Medina. Others competing but not placing were: Dalton Vaughn, Jordan Cardenas, Caleb Peterson, Andrew Aguirre, Jacob Mesa, Wyatt Ritchie and Denver Kipp. "We are really happy with how the team is progressing and hope to get all of the kids ready for post season" said Coach Adrian Hart. Wrestlers for the week are K-1 John Aguirre, 2-5 grade Caleb Peterson and Denver Kipp middle school.

Bryce Rodriguez Novice 90lb Champion Oxnard Bengal Invitational

Four middle school age wrestlers went to Dinuba Middle School Invitational on Jan. 28. Coach Curt Nelson was happy to have 2 wrestlers finish with third place medals, Jairdan Medina at 76Ibs and Elijah Graves at 108Ibs. Jairdan lost his first-round match and had to work his way through 5 rounds to earn his medal. Elijah lost in semi-finals in a 3-2 overtime match to the eventual champion and won the next 2 matches for third. Michael Murillo placed 5th at 103 and Cayden Castrellon, 83Ibs did not place. "Most of the matches it comes down to one move, they either win or they lose". said Nelson.

TVWC middle School wrestler Bryce Rodriguez traveled to Oxnard on Jan. 29. He battled his way through his matches to become the Novice 90lb Champion at the Oxnard Bengals Invitational.
