Oak Tree Art Antiques Etc., always open for First Friday

Since the early days of Tehachapi’s First Friday Art Walk, Oak Tree Art Antiques Etc. has been leaving their doors open after regular business hours, welcoming many local customers, as well as the out of town visitors, for this monthly town event. Their recessed storefront door can perhaps make them a little hard to find, but the lights are on and they’re there!

Owned by sisters, Gerry Veatch and Lore Riegert, Oak Tree Art Antiques Etc. is located just one door west of Gallery ‘N’ Gifts, at 102 W. Tehachapi Blvd. Their store houses a plethora of antiques, collectables, memorabilia, original art and crafts, as well as functional household goods. Each stall, wall, shelf or tower is stocked and arranged independently by different collectors, and so the inventory is constantly changing. 

Their First Friday welcome mat is put out at 5 p.m., and they stay open until 8 p.m., offering visitors free “finger foods” (including scrumptious cookies) and beverages. On many occasions they will also have live music as well. It’s a cozy and friendly atmosphere, with an element of surprise and wonderment mixed in as visitors discover a multitude of unique items up for sale. 

Regular business hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., every day of the week, and only closes on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. Their phone number is (661) 823-0162.
