Taylor Shumway, a senior at Tehachapi High School and a four year veteran of the T.H.S. Drama Program, is excited to be directing Ax of Murder. Shumway was interested in this comedic mystery because it features many plot twists and interesting characters. Bonnie Bagwell, played by Kaylee Winn, and her drama troupe are looking for a play to perform. Writer, Colin Chambers, played by Darian Brown, turns up with a script, Ax of Murder. He warns them to not read it, hints at the horrors and death that have cursed the script but, the actors don't heed his warnings. As they read the play, the script changes and mirrors the actors and their theater. On cue, a police sergeant, played by Jack Hobmeier, arrives saying he was called to investigate a murder and within minutes, the murderer strikes his or her first unsuspecting victim. Doubt turns to fear as the actors are compelled to continue reading the script to find out who the murderer will strike next.

Miss Shumway believes the play's many plot twists and suspenseful action will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. She is very confident in her cast and happy with the progress they have made in learning their blocking and lines.

"It is a new perspective." Miss Shumway says about directing. "It's hard work and I enjoy it."

Miss Shumway brings experience and a true love of the performing arts to the stage. She has performed in seven shows on the Tehachapi High School stage, participated in one act plays at the Templeton Drama Festival, worked as a stage manager for the T.H.S. production of Sherlock Holmes in 2015, and has enjoyed performing in local community theater productions as well. She was also in a commercial for the movie, Mirror, Mirror. Currently, she is president of the T.H.S. Drama Club and, with the other officers, plans to support other students at T.H.S. participating in the performing arts.

In the future she plans to go into acting or become an investigator.
