Twelve Angry Jurors Opens Soon

TCT Spotlight

This courtroom thriller is directed by Rick Gould, a frequent fixture of TCT productions, and is scheduled to open onFriday, September 30, 2016. It was originally written in 1954, as a play for television by Reginald Rose, then adapted to the stage play known as "Twelve Angry Men" the following year. Most people would be familiar with the 1957 screen version directed by Sidney Lumit and featuring Henry Fonda.

The title of this play changes with the casting choice. It has been cast with all women, and titled "Twelve Angry Women", or with a mixed cast of men and women, as it is here, and titled "Twelve Angry Jurors".

An edge of your seat drama, the play takes us inside the jury deliberation of a murder trial. A nineteen year-old man has been accused of killing his own father. The jurors are deadlocked 11 – 1, in favor of a guilty verdict, but in our justice system, a guilty verdict must be unanimous in order to pass judgment. Tempers flare as the eleven jurors attempt to get the lone dissenter to come around to their side. However, as the evidence is re-examined, new uncertainties come to light, and everyone is forced to questionthe real possibility that "reasonable doubt" exists. It is a powerful exploration of our democracy in action!
