Playwrights Festival 2016 at the BeeKay

Howdy, folks! It's that time of year again! When the Tehachapi Community Theater (TCT) presents its 7th "Playwrights' Festival" held at Tehachapi's beautiful BeeKay Theater. This year's festival will feature "Small Town Life", where each play will show an aspect of life in a small town. The festival is a forum for un-produced plays, where playwrights showcase their talents by submitting an original '10-minute play' for a live on-stage production by TCT and our local Tehachapi actors, who auditioned to perform the various roles on stage.

It is also a chance for TCT members, who are interested, to direct a play for the first time and for new people, who may or may not have acted before on stage, to be in a short play and try their skills without the commitment of a full length production. Out of nearly 30 script entries, only 8 were chosen to be produced in this year's festival.

As always, the audience will vote to choose the winners of the Playwrights' Festival's coveted Bronze, Silver and Gold "Quill Award" trophies.

The performance dates are Friday evenings, July 8 & 15 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday evenings. July 9 & 16 at 7:30 p.m. Voting for your favorite play will be on Friday and Saturday shows only. The final Sunday Matinee and Awards Show is at 3 p.m. on July 17.

After the awards are presented on July 17, there will be an opportunity to meet our playwrights and actors at a special reception held at the Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum, which is within walking distance of the BeeKay Theater.

All seats are only $10.00 and can be purchased at Tehachapi Furniture, Tehachapi Treasure Trove and on-line at http://www.tctonstage.com. The BeeKay Theater is located at 110 South Green Street in downtown Tehachapi. For more information, go online at http://www.tctonstage.com or call (661) 822-4037.
