What's Up in Stallion Springs?

The Stallion Springs Property Owners Association congratulates to THS student Hailee Riddle who received a $1,000 scholarship in May from the SS POA. Hailee had a great application and grade average. They wish her the best as she takes the next step in her life.

Police report

The Stallion Springs Police Department for the month of May reported three arrests and one citation was issued. There were 68 calls for service, six call outs, eight want and warrant checks, 101 officer initiated investigations, nine field interviews and one vehicle was impounded. The Community Service Volunteers conducted 149 vacation house checks, seven infrastructure checks and seven school bus checks.

A reminder: Woodward West is now open for the summer. Please be observant of the children in the area and drive with extra care.

Board of Directors Election

The Stallion Springs Community Services District Board of Directors will have three seats up for election on the November 8, 2016 Consolidated General Election ballot. The Board member term is for four years and Regular Board meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Special meetings and closed session meetings are held at various times throughout the year. Interested parties will need to pick up a 'Declaration for Candidacy' form from the Auditor-Controller- County Clerk's office from July 18, 2016 until August 12, 2016 before 5 p.m. in Bakersfield. Kids Book Club

This summer the SSPOA will be sponsoring a kid's book club for children between the ages of 9 and 14. The club will meet in the Stallion Springs Library from 12 until 2 p.m. to discuss that month's book, and create a craft and on Aug 11, The Giver by Lois Lowry will be discussed. Please signup/RSVP at least one week in advance to either Lea at 822-0270 or Jennifer at (661) 332-6218. Due to space we will be limiting the number of participants to 20.

Fire Prevention

The weed abatement deadline of June 15, 2016 has passed and the Kern County Fire Department will be issuing fines for properties not mowed or abated. The District implements a weed abatement program that will mow your lot for a nominal fee, if needed. Contact the CSD office at (661) 822-3268 to be placed on the weed abatement list to avoid penalties.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

Meet on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, July 19, at 6 p.m. at the CSD Board Room.

Property Owners Association

The POA meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Everyone is welcome. The next meeting is scheduled for July, 26 in the CSD Board Room.

4-H meets on the Second Friday of the month at 7 p.m. in the library. For more information about the Stallion Springs 4-H

The Neighborhood Watch meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month. The next meeting is on July 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the CSD. You do not have to reside in Stallion Springs to attend.

Stallion Springs Neighborhood Watch (SSNW) has its own Facebook page: "Stallion Springs Neighborhood Watch." It is a closed group, open to Stallion Springs residents. "Like" the page and request to join us. The SS Bulletin Board page is "public" and was created for all our SS Community Groups to share their meetings and events in one location.
