Develoment Services Director Jay Schlosser told the City Council that RRM Design Group, Inc has been retained to update the City's Landscape Design Guidelines. They will also be developing a new recommended plant list to incorporate into the list of draught tolerant vegitation. The list will be available online.

The Council also approved two requests from Police Chief Kent Kroeger. The first approved an agreement with the California Highway Patrol for use of the Bakersfield Communication Platform which cross-connects existing radio frequencies and networks. This will make the Tehachapi Police Department frequency compatible with other agencies. The other approved request was to lease space at the El Rancho Repeater site. The space is being offered for free and the only cost to the city will be for the radio equipment and installation. The location will offer a wide span of radio communitcations throughout the City and areas of Highway 58 and will assist with switching services when the new dispatch center goes online on June 30.
