What's Up in Stallion Springs?

John Martin General Manager of the Tehachapi - Cummings Water District updated community members on ground water and water banking issues at the Stallion Springs Town Hall Meeting.

Two Town Hall meetings were held on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 at Stallion Springs Community Center. Residents were brought up to date on the upgrades to the Wastewater Treatment Plant, required water banking beginning in 2017, and status of the community mailboxes and newspaper tubes.

The community's wastewater plant requires long-awaited upgrades to meet the increasingly stringent state requirements and avoid state violations. Requirements and costs are being researched at this time.

Stallion Springs will be mandated to begin banking water in the Cummings Valley Basin beginning in 2017. This mandate states that Stallion will need to bank five years of water over the next 10 years. Additional costs to the residents for water will be minimal for the banking.

The centralization of all community mailboxes is being considered by our District. Due to the mail thefts plaguing Kern County, including Stallion Springs, a centralized location would allow for increased surveillance and deter mail theft. The matter was put on hold awaiting response from the Postmaster on possible master lock changes.

The removal of newspaper tubes was approved by the board of directors and will begin on June 1. It is the responsibility of the newspaper companies and the subscribers to work out a delivery plan for the papers after that date.
