SUPERVISOR ZACK SCRIVNER ANNOUNCES KERN STOP METH NOW COALITION AT TOWN HALL

TEHACHAPI – Supervisor Zack Scrivner today announced that the Kern Stop Meth Now Coalition will hold a community town hall on Thursday, May 12th, 2016 at 5:30PM at the Tehachapi Veterans' Hall, 123 E. "F" Street in Tehachapi.

The Tehachapi Town Hall will provide local drug trend information and invite those in attendance to identify local issues that might contribute to the problem, as well as possible solutions. The Kern Stop Meth Now Coalition welcomes participation from those in business, education, and community members.

"I am glad the Coalition will be holding this important town hall meeting in Tehachapi. It takes a community response to truly eradicate the scourge drug use has on our towns." said Supervisor Scrivner.

The Kern Stop Meth Now Coalition was created in 2009 at the request of the Board of Supervisors upon review of the Meth Impact Study, which reported that the county budget was heavily impacted in a majority of departments by methamphetamine. Criminal cases, treatment for those who are addicted to the drug, medical costs for people impacted by the drug, law enforcement costs for ancillary crime the often accompanies drug use, all of this and more demand attention and use valuable resources of county agencies.

Since that time, the Kern Stop Meth Now Coalition has worked with many communities throughout Kern County to address needs associated with alcohol and other drug use, including methamphetamine.
