Monsignor Ronald Swett celebrated a Mass of the Resurrection at St.Malachy Catholic Church on Wednesday Dec. 3, for lifetime resident, Tony Anthony, who passed away on Nov. 19 at the age of 87. His dedication to his family and his home town of Tehachapi will live on in the hearts of the residents. Born in Tehachapi in 1928, he attended local schools and graduated with his lifetime small town friends; friendships that lasted throughout his life.

His father and mother, John and Angie Anthony raised their four children, Tony, Daphne, Jim and Helen, in the same house on what was then termed, Main Street, now Tehachapi Boulevard. His father, John Anthony, a fine man, and a native of Greece and his mother, Angelita (Angie) Cortez Anthony were good parents and the four Anthony children led good lives.

He was a valuable player in high school sports and also served as President of his class. In later years, he would serve his country during the Korean war. Besides holding down a job at Monolith Cement Plant he served some forty years as Fire Chief of Tehachapi. The name, Fire Chief and Tony Anthony, were synonymous in the minds of local residents.

He and Beth Hansen were married in 1952 and were able to spend sixty years with each other. They always seemed to be "made for each other" Their Tehachapi neighborhood held friends together and their children grew up with the children of their parent's childhood friends. It was a good time.

His full name, Antonio Arnold Anthony, was well known to his classmates and he always carried the initials "A.A.A" on his school books. He liked his "triple A" handle.

Anthony Arnold Anthony has left a good imprint on the lives of Tehachapi residents and will be missed.
