Tehachapi City Council honors retiring David James

Mayor Susan Wiggins presented at Certificate of Recognition to retiring Community Development Director, David James. James had been with the city since December of 1996 and had served as Economic Development Director and City Planner prior to assuming his last position. The letter of recognition noted his "exceptional dedication, work ethic and a positive professional attitude." James was instrumental in the implementation of the RDA Development Plan, the Downtown Master Plan and the Downtown Sign Grant. He was also instrumental in bringing Tehachapi such businesses as Chem-Tool, Orchard Shopping Center, Home Depot, Tractor Supply and, with his team, helped the city apply for and receive community development grants.

In an emotional farewell, James stated that there were many things that could have gone wrong over the years but "we did get it right." He also thanked past and present city councils and city managers as well as his team and family members who were all in attendance.
