Planning Commission names Michael J. Williams new member

Mick Williams

At the City Council meeting on July 6, Tehachapi City Council unanimously appointed Michael (Mick) J. Williams to the Planning Commission, replacing Sonja Wilson whose term expired on June 30. Williams' term will continue until June 30, 2019.

Williams and his family have been members of our community for two years. He graduated from M.I.T. with a degree in Civil Engineering and received a Master of Systems Analysis from the Naval Post Graduate School. During his 20 years in the military he was a Test Pilot and a Test Pilot Instructor. He represented the USAF Test Pilot School on the team that evaluated civil engineering projects and approved or disapproved major projects at Edwards Air Force Base. He is now retired from the military and flies as First Officer for Delta Airlines.

Williams says that he has been interested in urban planning since college and believes that his unique background would make him an asset to the Planning Commission. He believes that intelligent and well thought out city planning can have positive economic, social and public health impact.

"Tehachapi is already a great place to live, but has potential to be an even stronger community with a planning team that provides a strong strategic vision and an ability to execute that vision," says Williams.
