After being closed for six months, the restaurant on South Street has reopened under new ownership featuring a classic Thai cuisine.

Age, as she calls herself, bought the ten year old restaurant in March 2015, after the prior owner, Manenat, retired and returned to Thailand. It was through a good friend who is related to Manenat that Age found out about the vacant Tehachapi restaurant. She checked it out, bought the restaurant and now lives here as well. She still goes to Los Angeles for market.

Age is not new to the restaurant business. She has owned Bua Na Thai a restaurant located near Old Town Pasadena for six years. She said that she has worked in the industry for over ten years in the Los Angeles area. Her experience covers every aspect of the business, from delivery to chef.

She said that she thinks the people in Tehachapi are very nice and the overall response to the restaurant has been very positive. She likes that there is less pressure here and she loves the idea of having a winter season.

She has some great plans for the future of Thai Palms. Her plans include a flat screen TV and Happy Hour, along with various other promotions.

She is also planning what she calls an "Asian Fusion" menu. Most people make the mistake of thinking that all Thai food is spicy. The new menu will be designed to help diners get used to the wide variety of flavors of Thai food. Of course, she will have the original classic menu as well.

Stop by for lunch or dinner. Thai Palm is open every day except Monday.
