SoCal motorists get open access to Willow Springs

The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA)has announced that it has scheduled four Tuesday night events this spring and summer at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, Calif. These events, SCAA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack, are open to the public and have been scheduled for 20 tracks across the country. Willow Springs will be the only Southern California venue.

Anyone over 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license, access to a helmet and street car in good working condition can share the experience of road racing. No race cars will be permitted. For their $150 entry fee, entrants will receive three 20 minute sessions on the track. They will be divided into three skill levels, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced, and have access to top SCAA instructors. Admission is free for those who just want to watch or show off their ride. The opportunity for a leisurely parade lap is available for all guests during these events.

Track Night In America was launched this year by the SCAA Experiential Programs Department as a way to make on-track experiences more accessible to the general public. The organization has been in existence since 1944 and has more than 65,000 members encompassing all facets of road racing. (www.scca.com) Tire Rack is America’s largest independent tire tester. Their team tests tires from every major manufacturer at their facility in Indiana and then posts their findings on their website. (www.tirerack.com)
