Ed Miller brings Scottish songs back to Tehachapi

Artist Spotlight

Scottish folksinger Ed Miller will return to Tehachapi for the third time on Friday, Feb.13, for a 7 p.m. concert in Fiddlers Crossing. Miller is a folklorist as well as a musician, with graduate degrees from the University of Texas, and entertains with the stories behind the songs. Although, now a resident of Austin, TX, his Edinburgh accent still delights his audiences. Miller has been hailed as "one of the finest singers to come out of the Scottish Folksong Revival" and as "one of Scotland's best singing exports."

Along with his concert career, he also was the long-time host of a Sunday afternoon radio program of folk music in Austin, called "Across the Water." Miller is highly sought after for Celtic festivals, Highland Games and Burns Suppers, as well as for lectures and workshops. He has recorded eight CDs of Scottish songs, which he will have for sale at the concert. Along with his musical tours of Scotland in his concerts, he leads actual "folksong tours" of his native country every June. Several people from Tehachapi and Bakersfield have been on his tours and have raved about them.
