Canvas & Merlot class in December was alot of fun.
2014 really went out with a bang at the Art Studio. Well, a rattle, a roll, the howl of the wind and rain – and then the bang of a ceiling crashing in. December's storm left us a big mess, but worse it left us unable to have our Annual Winter Gallery where we celebrate our students and enjoy an evening of art. Our January Canvas & Merlot was also postponed. But not to worry we know how to count our blessings and with some cleaning, some patching, and a fresh coat of paint we're excited and ready to take on 2015!
Fun in February
Canvas & Merlot – On the 7th we will continue our monthly event Canvas & Merlot. The first Saturday of the month finds us laughing, learning, and sharing while we sip on wine, paint on canvas and nibble on treats with old and new friends. The event starts promptly at 6 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. There are 25 tickets available and are on sale now. Tickets purchased by the 15th of the month are $35.00, after that they are $50.00. Tickets include all art materials, instruction, 2 glasses of wine and hors d'oeuvres.
Cookies & Canvas – New this year, the first Saturday of the month from 2 - 4 p.m. This would be a great get together for kids seven and up, or even a friends and family event. 25 tickets will be available at a cost of only $30 each. Enjoy creating a step-by-step painting in a fun supportive atmosphere, while munching on cookies and treats!
Taste the Art – Also in February is our 3rd annual "Taste the Art" event from 5 - 7 p.m. on the 12th. This "tasteful" event brings together artists and art lovers in a unique gallery experience where art accompanied by a matching food make for a full art experience (for example: apple painting + caramel candies = caramel apple experience), yum!
Call for Artists
The 3rd Annual Taste the Art Event call for entries is open. This Tehachapi event is open to all artists, students, and newbies working in all painting, printmaking, drawing media, photography and sculpture. Entries will combine an original subject or concept and pair it with a matching food.
Entry Deadline: Feb. 7, 2015 5 p.m.
Eligibility: Open to all artists of all ages.
Medium: Painting, printmaking, drawing media, sculpture and photography.
Art can be any size, you must bring enough matching food in small portions and ready for tasting. For large art pieces needing special consideration for display, please email theartstudiomail@gmail.com .
One framed and ready-to-hang artwork per artist. No charge for hanging or if sold.
Rated PG, please.
Latest drop off date for food that will be accompanying art is Thursday Feb. 12, 2015 at 4:30 p.m.
