What's Up in Stallion Springs?

Volkswagens on Display at the German Car Meet at Papa's Pizza and Grill across from the Stallion Springs CSD Oktoberfest.

The Stallion Springs CSD held its annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 4 with over 3,500 people in attendance over the course of 6 hours. They were so busy they ran out of bratwurst and had to send out for a backup supply. Beer lines were long all day and the Property Owners Association sold out of the root beer, cream soda and water provided for the non-beer drinkers. Kids filled the playground. Inside the crowded Community Center vendors were busy selling their wares. An even larger crowd is expected next year.

In keeping with the German theme, across the street at Papa's Pizza and Grill there was a German car meet with over a dozen Volkswagens on display that added to the attendance at both events. Attendees wandered back and forth across the street to enjoy both events.

Water Conservation

The July/ August readings revealed a 13.4 percent water reduction for the two month period. In August alone the drop was a full 18 percent. Considering the board did not adopt the Water Shortage Contingency Plan until the August 19 meeting this reduction is pretty good and residents are thanked for their response to the problem.

Election

On September 23 the POA held a Candidate Forum to introduce residents to the candidates for the CSD Board of Directors. There are five candidates to fill the two seats for the board. Candidates, Incumbent Sandy Young, and new candidates, Dan Foster, Joanne Hickins, Vince McLaughlin and Richard Valpey were introduced to the over 80 residents in attendance. Tehachapi City Manager Greg Garrett acted as mediator for the forum. It gave the residents an opportunity to get to know the candidates.

Remember to vote on November 4.
