Something is Brewing at Gallery 'N Gifts

On Saturday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m., TVAA’s Gallery ‘N Gifts will once again host a Coffee with the Artist. For September, TVAA’s 35th anniversary month, Shirley Given, pine needle and gourd artist, will be the featured guest.
Approximately eight years ago, Given attended a three-hour session in pine needle basketry because of a desire to mend her grandmother’s sewing basket. She soon realized that her interest in pine needle work far exceeded the repair of the precious basket and devoted herself to learning the intriguing, new-to-her art, form. The pine needle work eventually led to another form of expression and Given became adept at finishing gourds.
Given, owner of Gourds by Shirley, will share tips on some of the tools of her work as well as more about the journey that led to the work she now produces.
The doors open at 10 a.m. at Gallery ‘N Gifts and the program begins at 10:20 a.m. Complimentary coffee and pastries will be served and visitors will have time to ask Given questions as well as see examples of her beautiful work.
