National Night Out

Tehachapi Police Department

Local law enforcement and a variety of community organizers are inviting residents to a night out on the town with free food and all the safety information they can handle.

The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, began in 1984 in an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

“National Night Out” is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, co-sponsored by the Tehachapi Police Department ,and the Tehachapi Collaborative. National Night Out now involves over 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. While the one night is certainly not an answer to crime, drugs and violence, National Night Out represents the kind of spirit, energy and determination that helps make neighborhoods a safer place year round. The night celebrates safety and crime prevention successes and works to expand and strengthen programs for the next 364 days.

We anticipate having representatives from Bear Valley Springs Police Department, Stallion Springs Police Department, CHP, Kern County Sheriffs, Kern County Fire Department, the Department of Defense, Hall Ambulance, NASA, the U.S. Army, the Department of Defense and many more.

The event will feature music, free prizes, food and refreshments. Attendees that take their “National Night Out Passport” to the various booths and get their passports stamped may enter into a raffle for prizes, which will include children bikes and more.
