The 11th Annual Tehachapi Relay for Life will be held once again at Coy Burnett Field on July 12 and 13. And the 45 Teams participating this year would really appreciate your support as they walk the track for 24 hours in honor of and in memory of those who have battled cancer.

"Relay is such a great family event," said Duana Pera, the 2014 Event Chair. "There is something for everyone to do at Relay all day long. So if you are not on a tea.m. and just want to come out and spend some time with us please do so!"

The Community is a big part of the Relay success in Tehachapi. Everyone is welcome to come walk the track and visit with the teams, watch the entertainment on the main stage, and partake in the activities throughout the day.

"Last year RST Cranes had Crane Rodeo and it was a hit!" said Pera. "For a $10 donation you can sit in a crane and try your skills at maneuvering the rig by placing an object into three different barrels. The man and women with the lowest time wins a gift card from RST Cranes."

Plus there will be different bands throughout the day on the main stage; Fulton Band at noon, Mike Heckathorn Duo at 2 p.m., BMT Band at 4 p.m., Herald's of the Sword at 5 PM, Line Dancing with Mike at 6 p.m., and the T-Pops will kick off at 7 p.m.

"But the highlight of the evening is our Remembrance Luminara Ceremony at 8:30 a.m.," said Pera. "Each year hundreds show up to partake in the ceremony and then walk one lap in memory of all those we have loved that lost their battles with cancer; it is very emotional and reminds us of why we raise these funds for research."

Don't forget the 10:30 p.m. ZUMBA with Lisette, always a Relay favorite! And the theme laps will go all night long until 8 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Relay will kick-off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning with the Opening Ceremony and Survivor Lap, and will close Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. with the Fight Back Lap. If you want any more information on Relay please call Lynda at 823-7525 or log on to http://www.relayforlife.org/tehachapica and check it out!
