Cal City Lions Celebrated First Service Year

California City, CA - The Cal City Lions celebrated the completion of their first service year on Wednesday, June 18th with a pot luck dinner and Installation Ceremony.

The Blue Eagles Honor Color Guard from Edwards AFB posted the colors which was followed by an Invocation by Rev. Dr. Ronald Sparks and a tribute to our military personnel by Jennifer Wood. Tom Weil followed with a tribue to our flag.

Several guests from our Tehachapi Host organization were present as well as District 4 Governor Eva Hebebrand who installed this year's officers and David Hebebrand the past District 4 Governor.

Outgoing president Andrea Jeffs turned the gavel over to Teri Dulaney; Vice-president Teri Dulaney passed on her duties to Michael Bailey; Karen Nannery accepted the Secretarial duties for a second year and Sharon O'Brien returned as Treasurer.

District 4 Governor Eva Hebebrand, presented the new officers with candy bars that bore brand names that reflected their new duties.

The Lions also held an Induction ceremony for five new members. They welcomed Holly Kinney, Esther Maddox, Charles, Maddox, Esther M. Maddox and Louisia Low to the Cal City Lions Club. All were sworn in by incoming President Teri Dulaney.

Special thanks were extended to our Techachapi Host Lions Organization Members for their tireless efforts to help Cal City Lions during their first year. Special thanks were extended to Ric and Suzanne Williams from the Tehachapi Host Lions for the above and beyond help throughout the year.

During the past year the Cal City Lions accomplished the following. The collection of 200 pairs of eye glasses, completed two clean-up projects Contact: Jennifer A. Wood 760-373-1756 Cal City Lions Dist. 4-L1 Desert Region on Yerba Blvd., Road Sign painting between California City Blvd and Highway 14, Collected shoes for RPU school students, held two Student Speaker Contests; one for the club and one for the zone and held two fundraisers. The first at RPU School and the other at Tortoise Days.

The Cal City Lions have more events and service projects planned in the coming year.

The Cal City Lions are a friendly group and you are guaranteed to have fun time while serving California City, the region, and other Lions organizations and projects. If you are interested in joining us, please come to our meetings. They are held on the third Wednesday each month, except July, at the American Legion at 6 p.m. Our Motto is "We Serve."
