Senior Center Expands Exercise Classes

Incoming President Lewis Brown assists TSC Board President Lori Powell drawing winners in the 50/50 raffle at the recent dinner. Brown takes office July 2.

With the warmer months, the Tehachapi SENIOR CENTER has expanded both the Club Strength and Club Stretch exercise classes along with setting Zumba Gold four times a week. Call the Senior Center at (661) 822-5412 for times.

There are also openings in the Wood Carving class on Tuesday mornings. Details are available at the Center or by calling the office 10am to 2pm most weekdays. Outgoing president Lori Powell again thanked those who have joined the Center and those who attend the monthly fund raising dinners to keep the programs open to all without charge. Membership ranges from $20 to $50 per year (includes commemorative apron or t-shirt) to this non-profit organization.

Also available to local seniors are the Eagle Mountain Casino trips held twice a month. Riders are asked only for a nominal contribution and details for upcoming dates are posted in the lobby at the Center or by calling the office. The county Senior Nutritional Program continues at the Center Monday through Friday with those age 60 or over only asked for a $2 fee for lunch and the "Meals on Wheels" service is free to shut-ins and other qualifying seniors. Please call (661) 822-6255 from 9am to 1pm for details.

MOW would like to thank the Christian Life Assembly and Grace Fellowship as two of the recent volunteer groups to deliver the lunches. To have your group or church volunteer, please call the same number and not the Center's office.

Tehachapi's Senior Center is located at 500 E. F St. at the corner of S. Hayes St.
