There is a gem of a store downtown on Tehachapi Blvd., next to Kelcy's Restaurant. Sheridan's Boutique Home Consignment, located at 108 W. Tehachapi Blvd., offers a wide range of fine furniture and home decor, from antique to modern, along with beautiful jewelry and glassware. Everything is attractively presented and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, making shopping at Sheridan's a pleasurable experience.

The layout of the store is part of it's charm. A 150 year old parlor set is grouped with modern iron and glass topped end tables, to create a charming seating area. A 1950s maple dresser has been given a fresh look with a two tone paint and stain finish. Vintage and newer rugs cover the floors, artwork covers the walls, lamps, jewelry and glassware sparkle. The impression is that of a tastefully decorated home, unique and eclectic.

"We are grateful for the enthusiastic reception we have received from the Tehachapi community," says owner Virginia Sheridan, "Our goal is to offer beautiful pieces at reasonable prices. When people have better quality items that they can no longer use, we sell those items for them. It's a convenient way of finding a new home for those pieces that are just too nice to sell online or at a yard sale. Our consignors win because they are able to receive a better price selling through us than they could elsewhere. Our buyers win because our prices are affordable, and the quality of our items is high. And we win because we get to do what we love, refurbishing pieces, displaying them to their best advantage, and talking with our customers."

Sheridan's is now offering design consultation services. "We receive so many compliments on our staging and displays, that we realized this is a natural fit for us," says Virginia. "If someone wants a fresh updated style for their home, we can help them achieve the look they want. We can work with the furnishings they already own, rearranging, repainting or doing minor restorations where needed. We can also locate those special accent pieces that tie it all together into a cohesive whole, reflecting the owner's personal taste and sense of style. A customer can choose to treat themselves to a home makeover without breaking the bank."

On Saturday, June 7, Sheridan's will be hosting their Spring Auction at West Park Activity Center, 490 W. D St., Tehachapi, offering fine furniture, art, jewelry and rugs. Preview and registration is from Noon to 2 p.m., and champagne and refreshments will be served. The auction begins at 2 p.m.

If you enjoy combining a fun time with a chance to get some great bargains, this is an event you won't want to miss!
