The California City Arts Commission will be holding its annual Art Show, "Arts by the Lake" on May 4 and 5. The show represents work from many regional artists. The theme for this year's show is "My Favorite Place". Other entries are welcome; however, themed pieces will be photographed and will be juried for entry in the commission's 2015 calendar.

Art by the Lake will be open to the public Saturday May 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday May 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The California City Arts & Community Building is located at 10400 Heather Avenue in Central Park. Turn north off of California City Boulevard at Conklin and right on Heather to the end of the parking lot. The Art Show is concurrent with the California City Tortoise Festival which also takes place in Central Park. Don't miss these fun and educational events.

Interested in entering your art? Artists from age 16 and up may submit up to five works, with an entry fee of $2 for each work exhibited. Work in photography, water media, oils, collage, sculpture and 3D art, mixed media and fabric art are welcome. All entries must be appropriate for a family-oriented audience.

Please call Brenda Daverin, Parks and Recreation Supervisor, at 760-373-3530 or Helen Dennis at 760-373-4570 for more information.
