What's Up in Stallion Springs?

Larry Barrett of Coldwell Banker Best Reality was the guest speaker at the March 25 meeting of the Stallion Springs Property Owners Association. Barrett noted that Stallion covers approximately 16.5 square miles, has the only Covered Bridge in Kern County, and one – of only two in the world – mega ramp for skate boarding located at Woodward Center.

Real estate in the area is selling for an average of $105 per square foot and is trending upward. Seven homes have sold in Stallion since Jan. 1, 2014.

Police Department

The first group of six volunteers for the newly forming citizen volunteer unit went off, on April 9, to a four-day training course, and will soon begin performing a variety of duties to assist the department.

Some of these duties will be administrative in nature, such as data entry and filling out reports.

Other duties will be more physical in nature, such as assisting with traffic control, searching for evidence and transporting equipment or persons as needed by the department.

The Pool

Parks and Recreation is now accepting applications for Lifeguards. You can apply at the district office during regular business hours.

Hike and Ride

The Stallion Springs Trail Committee recently installed the third hitching post at Horse Thief Golf Course Restaurant so up to six riders can now tie up there.

CSD General Manager

To reduce water use, General Manager Mary Beth Garrison reports that the CSD will re-do the front entrances to the CSD buildings removing the water egregious junipers and grass replacing them with small flower beds, rock, boulders and decorative grasses.

Parks will be maintained but less water will be used to keep the parks green and a community garden operated by the Stallion Springs 4-H will give residents an opportunity to have a garden without the cost of a home garden’s water use. Water at the garden will be provided by drip-lines and mulch will be applied to hold the water in.
