Before its restoration, the 1928 Indian motorcycle was a jumble of pieces. The four Majors brothers brought a lifetime of skills to the project. The company that makes the Indian motorcycle has been in business since 1901. The vehicle gained fame when New Zealander Burt Munro, 67, driving a modified Indian, broke the "under 1,000 cc" world land speed record on Aug. 26, 1967 at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The record of 184.087 mph has not been broken. Anthony Hopkins starred in a movie about the event, "The World's Fastest Indian."
