In prayer.

It was a great turn out at McMullan Hall for the 32nd Annual Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast on May 3 as speaker Daryl Ragsdale, business development director for World Wind & Solar, shared his compelling story of faith.

"It was the picture of unity, of believers and others coming together for a common purpose," Ragsdale told The Loop.

The event, he said, "highlights the importance of the power of prayer."

Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast Chairman Don Bowman, a retired Salvation Army officer, said the signature event drew 146 people to the community hall at St. Malachy Catholic Church. It was the first of three events held in Tehachapi during the National Day of Prayer.

A stunning duet of 'The Prayer' performed by Christina Scrivner and Christian Parker brought a standing ovation. This truly moving piece was performed in English by one singer and answered in Italian by the other.

Dignitaries in attendance included 2nd District Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner and Tehachapi City Manager Greg Garrett, who brought greetings from the city.

With accompanist Donna Bowman, Christina Scrivner sang "Ave Maria" and shared a duet, "Prayer," with Christian Parker.

Community clergy who offered prayers were Rev. Nancy Bacon of Tehachapi Community Church, UCC, Andi Wiggins of Country Oaks Baptist Church, Father Wes Clare of St. Jude's Anglican Church and Pastor Michael Clark of A City on A Hill Church.

Breakfast by Linda Pettitt of Linda's Cakes 'n Things and Margaret Vezpellar of Mill Street Kitchen was, as always, a feast.
