Local racer Jenee Dugan prepares to race in Bakersfield

Local Tehachapi racer Jenee Dugan is putting together a team to race on the dirt tracks of Bakersfield, Calif. Jenee is a veteran fan, going to the Okie Bowl at Bakersfield Speedway since she was a kid. Her husband Tom Dugan is a racer himself in the Hardtop Class where Jenee now lends a hand. She hopes to be racing in this class very soon.

I have personally found the racing community in general is very helpful. Jenee met car owner Brad Peshech and became friends while buying one of his cars for the Hardtop Class that is raced at Kern County Raceway Park and Bakersfield Speedway. This is the car she will be racing. They just found a motor/transmission for the car and build up is progressing.

Jenee says," I ask my husband, and he says 'go ahead, I'll be your mechanic".

"So a deal was struck. I'm going to race against my husband and the rest of the drivers as soon as we get the car built".

Jenee also says, "My goal is to be able to learn to drive it well and be competitive, and for the race fans to enjoy a good show with a woman driving and racing against the boys as a strong competitor".

As a race fan myself I believe the future for motorsports will grow faster with gals like Jenee Dugan driving in new fans. I know we all wish good luck to Jenee and Tom Dugan with the two car race team and if you are looking to invest in a startup racing team, this would be a great one.
