The City of Tehachapi for the first time recorded an injury free year for its workforce.

"We have special people who are committed to working for the city and making it a great place to live and work. Tyler Napier has worked very hard in coordinating our safety training programs," said City Manager Greg Garrett.

The City of Tehachapi employs a total of 76 people including 69 full time, seven part-time, and six who are elected. The city is made up of several departments including Police, Public Works, Water, Wastewater, Planning, Finance and Administration.

"I am so proud of the Staff here at the City of Tehachapi. They have been so diligent and mindful of their safety as well as the safety of their coworkers. We have spent a tremendous amount of time and effort on Safety Training this year as well as establishing standard operating procedures to ensure that our workplace is safe for everyone," said Tyler Napier Utilities Manager/Safety Officer.

A few of the benefits of having an injury free year is "zero lost time", meaning employees didn't miss work and a possible savings in risk assessment insurance. The injury free year was between the months of December 2016-November 2017.
