Thunder on the Mountain kicks off annual fundraising efforts

Miss Tehachapi 2017 Delia Garza joined members of the Thunder on the Mountain Car Show Committee Barbara Williams and LaDonna Cline for the first day of raffle ticket and tee-shirt sales for the annual fundraiser.
Volunteers are already preparing for the 20th annual Thunder on the Mountain Car Show. The fundraiser event will be held on Sunday, August 20 during Mountain Festival Weekend in downtown Tehachapi.
The Thunder on the Mountain Car Show Committee raises money from car show registration fees, the sale of raffle tickets and tee shirts, and trophy sponsorships. Raffle tickets and tee-shirts went on sale Memorial Day weekend and will be available for purchase throughout the summer until the drawing on the day of the car show.
Prizes include a decorative outdoor fountain, a $1000 cash prize, a $500 Albertson's gift certificate, a $100 Albertson's gift certificate, Gym memberships, custom painted Speedway Pedal Cars, and a 700R4 4 Speed Automatic Transmission for a small block Chevy. You need not be present to win.
All the proceeds from the event go to scholarships and local charities. The recipients of the fundraising efforts are not the same each year. The Thunder on the Mountain Scholarship Fund is a constant but the other charities can change from year to year. Over the past 20 years, Thunder on the Mountain has donated, in addition to scholarships, to our local Senior Center, local Salvation Army, Honor Flight, local Humane Societies, Wounded Heroes Fund, Shop With A Cop, Relay for Life, the local VFW, St. Vincent De Paul Society, Links for Life, Tehachapi Search and Rescue, the Tehachapi Community Theater and Optimal Hospice.
When you buy a raffle ticket or tee-shirt from a Thunder on the Mountain volunteer you are helping your community.
