Speak up Tehachapi!

City of Tehachapi

Come voice opinions on where transportation dollars are spent.

Should Kern County fix local streets and roads or add more bike baths? Does public transportation need to be increased in our area? Is there a dangerous intersection you think could be improved? If you have opinions, the Kern Council of Governments wants to hear from you.

The Greater Tehachapi Economic Development Council is teaming up with Kern COG to host a Tehachapi workshop and they need your opinions. “It’s all part of the process in updating the Kern County’s Regional Transportation Plan.” explains Lydia Chaney, President of the GTEDC. “We’re just doing what we can to share the information and help give Tehachapi residents the chance to share thoughts on where their tax dollars are spent.”

The workshop is being held at the Tehachapi Police Department, 220 West C Street, on Tuesday, May 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will be encouraged to share thoughts on what is working, what needs improvement and where resources should be made a priority. Chaney explains, “This is your chance to express your opinions about the transportation needs of our community.”

The workshop will give participants an idea about some of the upcoming transportation projects in East Kern County but is primarily an opportunity to hear from residents. County representatives will be on hand to hear your thoughts, facilitate discussion and answer questions that may arise. It will be a great opportunity to ‘Speak Up!’

For more information, contact GTEDC Secretary, Michelle Vance at (661) 822-2200 ext 121 or mvance@tehachapicityhall.com.

An additional workshop will be held in Mojave on Wednesday, May 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mariah Country Inn & Suites, 1385 State Hwy 58, Mojave 93501. The GTEDC is providing light refreshments at both workshops.
