Big things are happening with TVRPD

April 1, 2017

The annual Brite Lake Fishing Derby is being held on April 1. After having to cancel last year's Fishing Derby due to the drought and lack of availability of fish, TVRPD was happy to announce it is happening this year thanks to corporate and business sponsors. It was thought that the current price of fish could again cause the cancellation of the event. Fishing enthusiast and businessman Steve Shaw reported that he had approached local businesses for donations totaling $1,000. Lehigh Southwest and BHE Renewables said that they would make sure that funds were available for the supply of fish. In addition, with the help of TCCWD, the damaged roads at Brite Lake have been scraped and repaired.

Dye Natatorium will be opening on Monday, April 3 for what is planned to be a five month season. The Tehachapi High School Swim Team and Barracudas will all be there for a work out. Water Aerobics is also scheduled. With pool manager, Corey Torres licensed to train lifeguards, all training will no longer need to be outsourced saving the District $110 per lifeguard.

Torres also reported that the men's basketball tournament sign-ups produced an impressive 11 teams.
