What is NARFE?

The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the earned pay, retirement and health care benefits of federal employees, retirees and their survivors. Founded in 1921, NARFE's legacy spans more than 95 years – advocating tirelessly in support of members before the Office of Personnel Management, members of Congress and the White House.

If you are an active or retired Federal employee you should know what NARFE can offer you. NARFE represents the interests of all active and retired Federal employees. It serves your interests in a number of important ways:

It acts as a Legislative Voice. Through its lobbyists and member involvement, NARFE is a powerful advocate supporting legislation beneficial to current and potential federal annuitants and opposing legislation contrary to your interests.

It is also an information resource. NARFE provides information and guidance on complex federal benefits issues.

Becoming a member of NARFE gives you access to a team of Federal Benefits Service specialists for answers to your questions as well as Legislative eAlerts on congressional business directly affecting the federal community.

The Tehachapi NARFE Chapter can help you as a Federal employee or retiree or survivor, with any problem you may encounter with your retirement benefits, Social Security, Federal employee health insurance, Federal Employees' Group life insurance, Thrift Savings Plan, and more. If we don't know the answer we can get you in touch with someone who does.

The Tehachapi Chapter of NARFE meets every month on the 3rd Thursday at 8 a.m. in Kelcy's Restaurant. Come for breakfast and find out all that NARFE can do for you!

For more information: call Royal Mink, the local chapter president at (661) 821-1015.
