On Dec. 8 at noon the Rotary Club of Tehachapi held it's 20th Annual Senior Holiday Luncheon. This event started with eight in attendance and over the years has grown to over 300 local seniors gathering for friendship and a full turkey, with all the fixings, lunch. The Seniors were greeted at the entry to the community hall at St. Malachy's by two very beautiful reindeer provided by Windswept Ranch.

The Rotary members and several local businesses also donate gifts. This year there were over 160 gifts distributed. Santa Claus visited the group and distributed candy canes throughout the room. The Heart of Jesus group played and sang Christmas songs to entertain the Seniors before and during the meal.

Rotary members participate in Save Mart's buy one/get one turkey purchasing and donate the second turkey for the luncheon. Save Mart cooked the turkeys for the event. Albertsons donated the poinsettias and pumpkin pies. James Carhart and Denis Arnold cooked all the other fixings. Rotary's Tehachapi High School Interact Club served the meals.

This project is one that is very near and dear to all Rotarians' hearts. It gave us great pleasure to serve our community of seniors and to hear them say how much they enjoyed the meal, the company and the entire event.
