Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District opened the redesigned and improved Meadowbrook Park and Dog Park on Oct. 29, 2016. Hundreds of park patrons joined TVRPD for the ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration.

It was an historic moment for the district and a long overdue amenity for the residents of Golden Hills. The park features two playgrounds, a swing area, misting station and exercise equipment.

TVRPD invested close to $650,000 in the design, engineering, equipment and build of Meadowbrook Park. "This is what we do. We invest in the community with excellent parks, facilities and programs. Seeing the park full with families is an honor. We at TVRPD love what we do and love serving the Tehachapi Valley," said LeAnn Williams, District Manager.

Second District Supervisor Zack Scrivner was on hand to present the District with a certificate of appreciation. "This is a day to celebrate all the hard work by all the different groups in Tehachapi. That's what Tehachapi is all about. It shows how government and the community can work together," said Scrivner.

The Chamber of Commerce was on hand to assist with the ribbon cutting along with officials from the Golden Hills CSD, City of Tehachapi and Marley's Mutts.

The newly designed and relocated Dog Park is decked out in black wrought iron fencing, separate areas for small and large dogs, drinking fountains and agility equipment. Marley's Mutts led the charge to the Tehachapi community in getting the vote out for the Pet Safe Dog Park Contest in which TVRPD won $25,000 two years ago.
