The California City Parks and Recreation Department and California City Arts Commission will present the 14th annual California City Renaissance & Fantasy Faire, taking patrons back in time to 16th century England on Oct. 15 and 16. Gates will be open 11 to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Cost of admission for adults is only $8. Children 12 and under are free. Military & seniors are $5. Cash only. Parking is free.

The Guilde of Sainte Marie returns this year as the Court of Elizabeth I, joined in support by the House of Tudor.

It is the only Renaissance Faire in the High Desert! And one of the most anticipated outdoor events in the area! The Renaissance Festival will be held this year in California City's Central Park. Fine performances include a world-class juggler, Pirate Cove for the Wee Ones, belly dancers, live Irish (Mayde in Ireland) & English (Cut Throat Reef) bands, singers, blacksmith demonstration, pony rides, fairies, mermaid and archery too. Hearty food, tavern and original and unique merchandise can be found in abundance in the marketplace.  Activities will include a scavenger hunt for the children to find the golden items hidden around the faire site, as well as the annual coloring contest. Featured this year in the Strata Center is a traveling Model Train Show that is sure to delight children of all ages! Costumes are more than welcome.

This year will feature the California City "Camden on the Lake, A Festival of Roses". Long-time participant Angela Baker of Camarillo, California has been asked to offer her interpretation of one of England's most successful monarchs, Elizabeth I. "We are pleased to bring Elizabeth I back to California City, and this year, while we'll be focusing on the history, of course, our primary focus will be fun and education for the children," says John Bloom-Ramirez, the festival's Entertainment Coordinator.

Sunday afternoon will feature a Queen's Tea, hosted and served by the Earl of Leicester himself. Cost to attend the tea is $10 for adults, and $5 for children 10 and under. Tickets will be available at the event and on Groupon.com.
