Veterans History Project

 

Winthrop Saville, WWII Veteran is ready for the interview to begin.

The American Legion Auxiliary Tehachapi unit 221 would like to thank the seven veterans and their interviewers for participating in the veterans History Project. This unique project videotapes a veteran interview which will ultimately be sent to the Library of Congress. This important project will be a great genealogical tool for the future as well as a learning experience for the interviewer.

The seven veterans are Winthrop Saville WWII, Paul Doody Korea, Lora Clendenin Operation Enduring Freedom, Amy Rogers Korea, Gail Mary Harper Vietnam, Marcus Canty Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Becky Byrd Operation Enduring Freedom.

Mr. Saville was interveiwed by his daughter Gail Purdy, Mr. Doody by Boy Scout Jack Schuyler, Ms. Clendenin by her father Norm Clendenin, Ms. Rogers by granddaughter Aimee Hansen, Ms. Harper by Miss Inland Cities Tiffany Rae, Mr. Canty by Boy Scout Dallen Remund, and Ms. Byrd was interviewed by her daughter Stephanie Byrd.

We also would like to thank Key Budge for providing the video equipment, Debbie Rae and Todd Remund for helping to take notes during the interviews.
