What's Up in Stallion Springs?

Police Chief Mike Grant reports, the Stallion Springs Police Department assisted the Kern County Sheriff at the Erskine Fire. Two units responded to the Fire on Thursday, June 23 and again on Friday, June 24. The third unit covered calls in the Tehachapi area when needed on June 23, 24, and 25.

On June 25 our officer established a command post and called out Kern County Search and Rescue to search for a missing adult female in the Golden Hills area.

We also had Stallion Springs CERT on standby for the Bear Valley Cumberland fire, Erskine Fire and Missing adult female incident.

Grant said he would like to add that, "I thanked the entire CERT for all of their ongoing assistance and ready willingness to help our police department. I requested many things during this period and they were consistently there, standing by to help. I can't begin to express how much I and my officers appreciate their commitment to the safety of our community."

CERT

Stallion Springs CERT held a Large Animal Emergency Preparedness informational meeting for residents of Stallion Springs and the surrounding areas on Thursday, July 7. Residents were advised, what to do with their animals, where to take them, and what information regarding the animal will be needed by those at an animal evacuation center when we experience that inevitable disaster of wildland fire, earthquake or flood.

Fire Prevention

The weed abatement deadline of June 15, 2016 has passed and the Kern County Fire Department will be issuing fines for properties not mowed or abated. The District implements a weed abatement program that will mow your lot for a nominal fee, if needed. Contact the CSD office at (661) 822-3268 to be placed on the weed abatement list. The District has begun cutting lots but it is a slow process due to the number of lots needing to be cut.

If you are out cutting your yard or lot remember to have water or fire extinguishers handy as the slightest spark can start a fire in these dry conditions.
