What's up in Stallion Springs?

Raul Alcarez, Race CEO meets with individual home owners following presentation on fiber installation Dec. 15.

Happy Holidays, but beware. Stallion Springs Police Chief Mike Grant warns you to look out for scams and fraud at this time of year. Check your bank and credit card accounts on a regular basis. You may want to look into Identity Theft protection. There are several companies that offer different levels of protection for relatively little money. Be sure to report scams or fraud to the police department so they can follow up on the issue. If you are a Stallion Springs resident and believe you may have been a victim, please contact the Stallion Springs Police Department at (661) 822-3268.

Watch for the Elk on the roads. They are wondering through as they get the urge. Stallion Springs Drive was closed for a while last week as they decided to cross the road at their own pace.

Race fiber installations back on track

Race Communications CEO, Raul Alcaraz, made a presentation at the Stallion Springs CSD Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15, detailing the new fiber installation procedures.

Do to a misunderstanding of the regulations, Race had violated the installation guidelines which were outlined in the resolution passed by the board last summer. Race sent a letter to the CSD apologizing for the error and stopped all installations until after the board meeting to be sure the issues were addressed.

At issue was the use of overhead or underground connections in several areas under special consideration where direct bury cable was used during new home construction. Alcarez and CSD Manager Lori Rogers worked out an arrangement where Race will do their survey of a house and the CSD will review it and then, on a case by case basis, give approval or recommend an alternative for the type of drop from the street to the house.

If the home has existing underground conduit and space is available in the conduit, the fiber will be run through the conduit. If the house currently has overhead power and telephone service, the fiber can be overhead. If utilities are provided by direct bury cable, the options will be overhead with approval by the CSD General Manager or the owner may opt to put in conduit underground for the fiber. If the owner decides to put in conduit, Race may be able to provide some financial assistance for the cost of the project.

Race currently has 111 orders for service in the Zone 1 area with Zone 2 to quickly follow. Race and the CSD will work together to get it done and service the residents. Two crews will be moving forward as quickly as possible. Crew One will be putting in the drops from the pole to the house and Crew Two will follow up with the home installations.

For more information contact the CSD or Race at Race.com.
