Tehachapi Gandy Dancers host their Waving the Flag 2015 dance

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, the Tehachapi Gandy Dancers Square Dance Club hosted the Waving the Flag 2015 Dance. A total of 34 people attended the dance with members representing the Joaquin Squares from Bakersfield, the Mountain Squares from Frasier Park, the Skirts and Flirts from Bakersfield, the Rounders from Bakersfield, and of course, the Tehachapi Gandy Dancers. As many as three squares were on the dance floor at a time.
Bob Knowles provided the calls for the square dancers who danced to music from country and pop to music from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s today contemporary sounds.
Several couples participated in Rounds dancing. Darrell Beck provided cueing for the Rounds. The Rounders danced to a variety of music as well, from contemporary to classical as well as music from the 1960s and 1970s.
The next dance is the Dancing Under the Stars dance at the Outdoor Hockey Rink on East Tehachapi Blvd on 15 August 2015. Dick Hodnefield will provide the calls for square dancers; Joe Scarlatella and Monica Shanks will cue the round dancers. Pre-Rounds which is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. and square dancing which scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Come out and join us!
