Mystery Tour - Summer stroll around Downtown gives a glimpse into the past

Harry Rotz & Pat Gracey

Have an early dinner in Downtown Tehachapi then join the Tehachapi Heritage League for a stroll through history. Meet us at 6 pm at the Tehachapi Depot for a short presentation on the history of early buildings in the downtown area. Then we'll walk about 8 blocks, along which we will focus on downtown businesses; their origins, proprietors, and changes over time. Costumed docents will lead the tour and others will disclose fun bits of information as you stroll around.

The 2013 Mystery Tour focused on Victorian homes and was a sellout. This year one home will be featured, with a look inside to see how a Victorian family in Tehachapi might have lived. We will then return to the Depot for refreshments and a question and answer period with local historians.

This fundraising event is limited to 50 participants, so paid reservations are required. Call the Tehachapi Museum at (661) 822-8152 for reservations. The cost is $20 per person and includes refreshments; no children please.
