What's up in Stallion Springs?

The Stallion Springs Board of Directors held its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 21. In a Special Meeting held at 5:30 p.m. the Board approved a revised agreement with Consultant David Aranda reducing his monthly “not to exceed payment amount” to $5,000.

The Board also reviewed and approved the 2015-2020 Strategic Plan. The plan contained proposed goals for the next five years with the understanding that the plan is a working document and may be revised at any time, as situations change over time. There was also a discussion on the CSD’s ability to provide potable water to the community both in quantity and quality. Stallion Springs must work with the other agencies and farmers in the Cummings Basin to avoid groundwater depletion that could affect everyone.

The regular open session followed the Special Meeting. In the Public Presentation portion of the meeting a group of fitness class members expressed concerns about the change in rates for the monthly fitness pass. The Board was unable to respond to the issue as it was not an agenda item, however did agree to place it on the agenda for the May meeting.

While other CSDs in the area pay board members up to $100 per meeting, to the state limit of $600 per month, the Board also voted to maintain its current rate of compensation of a flat $75 per month regardless of the number of meetings attended.

The Board voted not to send a representative to the Legislative Affairs Conference due to the costs involved.

It was also determined that the lot mowing for weed abatement would be handled by CSD staff rather than contracting an outside company as has been done in the past.

Weed Abatement Reminder
