Eggcellent egg hunt!

My family thoroughly enjoyed the day: Blanca, Tayona, Sasha & Kaylin pose with their friend the Easter Bunny.

My family and I moved here from Ventura to this beautiful mountain town one year ago this Easter. We have not regretted a single moment and we continue falling in love with this place because of days like Saturday.

Saturday, April 4 was a beautiful day with perfect weather for an Easter egg hunt put on by Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District! The sun was bright and warm while the breeze had a coolness that was just right. Wonderful for cooling off the many children that would soon be scrambling around for colorful eggs! Ready to be tossed into baskets by excited little kids were 4,008 eggs scattered around West Park. Each field (age group) had 1,002 eggs!

I met LeAnn Williams and Matt Young who were very kind and did a fantastic job organizing hoards of kids. I learned that many were involved in scattering eggs and that left me with such a warm sense of community. I even met a Girl Scout with a beautiful smile and seemed very pleased to help! The Easter Bunny was "eggceptional" and perfectly "hoppy" to pose patiently for many photos.

Children lined up along the fences and chatted while eagerly waiting for instruction. A voice streamed from the bullhorn, "ready set go!" In the blink of an eye 1,002 plastic candy filled eggs disappeared. The golden and silver eggs were highly desired as some lucky child will walk away with one of many amazing prizes! Prizes consisted of Razor Scooters, a Red Rider, and even gift certificates for Youth Basketball. How great is that?! Our girls did not find those prized golden and silver eggs, but they did have a blast and we will absolutely be looking forward to next year!
