Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in the mountains of Tehachapi, California. Our goal is to not only give dogs in high-kill shelters a second chance at life, but help people who need a second chance as well. Our founder, Zach Skow, recently celebrated his 6th year of sobriety by running the 2014 Chicago Marathon, and attributes his recovery to the unconditional love of his dogs.
Marley's Mutts was founded to give shelter dogs a chance, not only to survive but also to thrive. Through our Miracle Mutts animal-assisted activities program, we are able to help people in the community, while giving rescue dogs the opportunity to do meaningful, fulfilling work. From helping recovering addicts to working with children and adults on the autism-spectrum, we continue to broaden our scope of involvement in Kern County, and positively impact many lives.
To increase our life-saving and life-enhancing efforts in the coming year, we aim to build Marley's Mutts Rescue Ranch. With a physical space to call home, we will be able to expand our dog rescue efforts and in turn, expand our volunteer, education, enrichment and training programs as well.
As a small but powerful organization comprised of dedicated staff, volunteers, and supporters the world over, we have the life force available to effect change on a vast and profound scale. In other words we have the fuel; this facility will be our vehicle! But, as is the case with all we do, we cannot build this dream without you.
