What's Up In Stallion Springs

 

Jeff Kestly, Sr. Public Safety Specialist with PG&E presents a public safety workshop to Stallion Springs CERT members

Pacific Gas & Electric held a First Responder Workshop for the Stallion Springs CERT team, presented by Jeff Kestly, Sr. Public Safety Specialist with PG&E. This training was specialized training for public safety first responders on how to safely respond and operate at natural gas and electrical emergencies.  

Mr. Kestly is one of eight Sr. Public Safety Specialists within PG&E's service territory that provide this type of training to fire, law enforcement, EMS, public works departments and CERT.  They have all worked previously in either fire or law enforcement and have done over 200 of these workshops for law enforcement (city, sheriff, and CHP) and fire agencies including Kern County Fire.

Water Conservation

The state has issued a mandatory conservation order of 20 percent except where necessary to address health and safety issues. If you are observed in violation any of the mandatory conservation measures, a door hanger will be placed at your home to notify you of the violation. Multiple violations may lead to a fine of up to $500.

Road Construction

Stallion Springs Drive is undergoing street repair and asphalt overlay from Crofun Street to the bridge. Expect delays and detours for the next few weeks.

Paving is expected to be completed by September 5.

Parks and Recreation

Pool hours for recreational swim are Mon./Wed./Fri 1- 6 p.m. and Sat./Sun.

11 a.m. to 7 p.m .; Adult Lap Swim Mon./Wed./Fri. 8-9 a.m.and 6-7 p.m .; Water Aerobics Mon./Wed./Fri. Noon-1 p.m.

The pool will be open weather permitting.

Upcoming events

Wednesday, August 20, 6:00 p.m. at the Stallion Springs EOC.  Training will be provided by Grimmway regarding the chemicals used at their facility in the Cummings Valley and the issues involved in the event of a hazardous spill. Everyone is welcome. CERT members will be trained by our Stallion Springs Police Department as to how we would be assisting in the event of a spill.

Saturday, August 23, 6 - 8 p.m. at Horsethief Park. The Property Owners Association will hold its August "Meet and Greet". There will be free drinks and food. The 4H club will present projects presentations. Bring a chair or blanket, and relax for the evening.

Wednesday, September 10, 6 p.m. Neighborhood Watch meeting at the CSD building.

Saturday, Sept. 13. GranFondo Bicycle Ride. This event will take place throughout the Greater Tehachapi area, including Stallion Springs.  CERT will be to assist with traffic control as well as at the rest area at the Community Center.  

Saturday, Sept. 13 Houchin Blood Drive. The blood drive will be at the CSD from 9 a.m.-1p.m.

Saturday, October 4, 12 noon to 6 p.m. Oktoberfest. Come out and enjoy German fun, food, drinks. Usic and more.
