Awards From Tehachapi Mountain Brew & Grill Fest

Tehachapi, CA. – California Breweries up and down the State competed in the inaugural Central California Craft Beer Competition on July 19th in Tehachapi, California. The Beer Judge Certification Program sanctioned event featured some of the top judges in the state. The competition showcased several styles including Pale Ale, Brown Ale, India Pale Ale (IPA), Hefeweizen, Stout and Porter. Awards were given in each style as well as overall Best of Show awards.
After several hours of quiet deliberation and serious swirling, sniffing and tasting, the Hefeweizen from Mission Brewery in San Diego emerged as the Grand Champion. Golden Road Brewing’s Brown Ale, Get Up Offa That Brown, took second Best in Show and third went to Mission Brewery’s IPA.
The competition was part of a larger event called the Tehachapi Mountain Brew and Grill Fest. The festival provided guests with samples from over 60 beers. Breweries at the festival included Barrel House Brewing Company, Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Golden Road Brewing, Hangar 24 Craft Brewery, Tioga Sequoia Brewing Company, Speak Easy Ales and Lagers, New Belgium Brewing Company, Goose Island Brewery, Shock Top Brewing Company, Johnny Apple Seed Cider, Tenth and Blake, Crispin Cider Company, Alaskan Brewing Company, Anchor Steam Brewing, Big Sky Brewing, Boston Beer Company, Deschutes Brewing, Drakes Brewing, Green Flash Brewing, Mammoth Brewing Co., Full Sail Brewing Company, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Magic Hat, Stone Brewing Company, Rogue Ales, Indian Wells Brewing Company, Shiner Brewing Company, Mendocino Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Dogfish Head Brewing, Ballast Point Brewing Co., Coronado Brewing and Oskar Blues.
Plans are already underway for the 2015 Tehachapi Mountain Brew and Grill Fest.
