Tehachapi Depot... Crowned?

Known as a "Railroad Signal Board" this newly erected and restored semi-fore style signal, is now standing taller than the Depot and was last seen in front of the Chamber of Commerce building here in town.

ST Crane operator Victor Villalvazo un- wraps the "Choker". He will also make sure both blades are placed in the horizontal position.

It has taken the unprecedented cooperation and efforts of Depot Volunteers along with Tehachapi City Staff and Engineers, Union Pacific Railroad Track Maintenance Manager Dewayne Hillman, and his flagman Ricky Kissel, all local residents, to prepare for this event. RST Cranes volunteered a crane and operators Matt Horn and Victor Villalvazo their manpower to raise and position the signal onto its base.

Research is ongoing as to whether or not this is the "Original" Tehachapi Signal Board as seen in many of the early 1900 photos of the Tehachapi Depot.
