Farmers Market and Chili Cookoff

Local residents stock up on fresh produce at the Thursday Farmers Market, to be held weekly at Railroad Park starting June 5.

Plans are underway for the Main Street Farmers Market, to be held at Railroad Park, to begin on June 5 and running for twelve weeks, until Aug. 14. Farmers and local growers will again be the focus, with additional vendors who sell handmade, local, and other related items. Food vendors will provide tasty treats and local musicians will provide the entertainment. Many participants from the previous years will return again this year.

Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District (TVRPD) and the City of Tehachapi are partnering with Main Street to produce this year's Farmers Market at Railroad Park.

A local entry in the Amateur Division serves up his unique version of "Tehachapi's Best Chili."

The seventh annual Main Street Tehachapi Chili Cookoff is scheduled for Saturday June 14. Local amateurs and restaurants will compete in local categories while competitors in the International Chili Society (ICS) sanctioned portion of the Cookoff will advance to regional and national competitions.

The MST Cookoff (June 14) is planned for Father's Day weekend so that families can enjoy activities like the Car Show, children's activities and food vendors. There will also be the annual Beer Garden so that fathers and mothers alike can rest while the children play. An added attraction this year will be the Main Street Chili Booth where you can purchase Main Street's own chili treats.

Applications for both the Farmers Market and the Chili Cookoff can be obtained by emailing info@MainStreetTehachapi.org.
